The Beginning
Dinajpur Zilla School was founded at the historic Pratap House through the visionary initiative of Raja Tarakanath. From its very first days, the school carried a singular mission — to bring modern education to the people of the Dinajpur region.
1856
Nationalization
Just two years after its founding, the British administration officially nationalized the institution, designating it a district — or Zilla — school. This recognition elevated its standing and opened its doors wider to generations of students.
1910
A Building for the Ages
The school's iconic main building was constructed in 1910 and continues to serve students to this day. Standing for over a century, it remains a testament to the enduring commitment to education that defines Dinajpur Zilla School.
1934
A Landmark in Three Dimensions
A remarkable three-dimensional map of the Indian subcontinent was created on the school grounds. This extraordinary landmark remains one of the school's most unique and celebrated features — a piece of history students walk past every day.

The Birth of an Idea
How HORIZON X Came to Be

HORIZON X was born from a simple but powerful belief shared by a group of students at Dinajpur Zilla School — that curiosity about the universe deserves more than a textbook. Space, with all its mystery and magnitude, has always captured the imagination of young minds, yet few events in our region brought that curiosity to life.

The idea took shape in conversations between friends who wanted to do something different. Something bigger. An event that wouldn't just quiz participants on facts, but challenge them to think, create, decode, and feel the vastness of what lies beyond our atmosphere.

Drawing inspiration from the school's own legacy of excellence — over 170 years of shaping minds — the organizing team decided to carry that tradition into the cosmos. HORIZON X is our tribute to that legacy, and our invitation to the next generation of explorers, thinkers, and dreamers.

The name HORIZON X reflects exactly that — a horizon that keeps expanding, an unknown that keeps beckoning. We don't know what lies beyond it. That's the point.
